“ExtraESTETICA-Exploitation is an exhibition where you can find intervened electronic devices with paint displayed in a storefront’s window. It is an unusual way to see your precious smart phone, digital camera or laptop. The public has donated these objects. Through them, it is shown how people with different lives, idea and dreams, use the same devices to perform daily life activities and at the same time gives them something to share in common.
Also, in the show you can appreciate paintings made with enamel on unusual surfaces like framed plexiglass and somebody else’s painitngs.
This exhibition is supported by Chashama. The reception has been organized in collaboration with The Mexican Cultural Institute of New York.

- Opening reception July 8, 6-9pm

This is an event where I will like to share some pieces of my Extra-estetica series color era as well as new ones painted on different surfaces, all made with enamel. I decided to stick to painting as my art production and I feel glad to share it with my friends and the public.

"Governors Island Art Fear" NYC.
September 2009.

Olivie Ponce is presenting at 4heads Governors Island Art Fair pieces of the Extra-estetica series of the Black and White era.

The 4heads Collective is a New York-based group dedicated to cultivating interest in the arts through community involvement and interaction. These Collective offers each selected artist a chance to exhibit in his or her own room in a historic building on Governors Island.
The 4heads has established a hands-off curatorial environment inviting the individual artists to create their own experience. For the public, it’s an opportunity to see and buy artwork from some of the city’s most sought-after independent artists in a beautiful, historic
park setting.

Governors Island includes a National Historic Landmark District featuring 18th century
fortifications, pre-Civil War arsenal buildings, Victorian and Romanesque Revival housing,
as well as early 20th century neo-classical architecture. Twenty-two of Governors Island's 172 acres comprise the Governors Island National Monument, which is owned and operated by the National Park Service. The island boasts sixteen acres of recreational facilities encircled by a one-mile esplanade for jogging and walking which features New York's closest view of the Statue of Liberty from land.
